Beschreibung
Ideally situated in Pauillac, on the banks of the Gironde estuary, the estate boasts a sprawling vineyard of 114 hectares (282 acres). In their relentless pursuit of excellence, the dedicated teams initiated an extensive replanting programme in 2009, a commitment that continues to this day. Each replanted parcel is farmed biodynamically, and in 2021 the estate embarked on the path to organic conversion. Pichon Comtesse wines are characterised by a remarkable balance - a harmonious blend of the distinctive characteristics of Pauillac with a unique personality. Straightforward, precise and elegant, with a velvety texture reminiscent of silky cashmere, they are truly exceptional. Discover the brand's film: PICHON COMTESSE - FILM DE MARQUE sur Vimeo The 2024 vintage "Because after the rain... the sun will always shine !" - Nicolas Glumineau Despite a 2024 vintage marked by extreme weather conditions, it would be a mistake to write it off too soon. Like the vintages of 1988, 1998, and 2008, this wine will reveal its true value in the fullness of time. Pichon Comtesse 2024, born of a battle against the elements, already stands out for its complexity, nobility, and finesse. Thanks to a few salvaging weeks of warm, dry weather in summer, the grapes reached maturity. The wine is vivacious, poised, proud, powerful and refined; very Pauillac and unmistakeably Comtesse ! Tasting notes The nose is dominated by aromas of pink roses, evolving towards fruitier notes of raspberry and blackcurrant jelly, as well as floral and mineral nuances of rosewood, lemon verbena and cedar, culminating in iris overtones (root and flower). Generous, concentrated and subtle on the palate, revealing blackcurrant and dark tobacco flavors. Powerful and full-bodied, it reveals long-lasting powdery tannins and notes of black tea and cocoa. 2029-2054 96/100 Decanter.com Georgina Hindle 21/05/2025 This wine offers pure, sophisticated aromatics of blueberries, blackcurrants, peony, and iris, with crayon and inky notes. Smooth and silky, it delivers great energy and intensity, balancing delicate chew, fleshiness, and fine, muscular tannins. Structured yet tight, it reveals iodine, salty graphite, cool blue fruit, mint, and cola. The texture grows on the second taste, gaining mass and flesh, with juicy sweetness on the mid-palate, evolving into a chewy finish. Tobacco, clove, liquorice, dark chocolate, and cedar add complexity. Mouthwatering acidity and precise balance showcase Nicolas Glumineau's skill, creating a svelte, energetic wine with a lot going on. 16% press. 50% production. 65% new oak. 3.7pH. 92-94/100 The Wine Independent Lisa Perrotti-Brown 20/05/2025 Deep garnet-purple colored. Shoots out of the glass with vibrant notes of black raspberries and black currants, plus hints of iris, fertile loam, cardamom, and graphite. The light-bodied palate is light on its feet with vivacious black fruit and savory flavors, supported by delicate, fine-grained tannins and appealing freshness, finishing earthy. 94-96/100 Jeb Dunnuck Jeb Dunnuck 13/05/2025 The Grand Vin from this reference point Pauillac château, the 2024 Château Pichon Longueville Comtess De Lalande checks in as 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc hitting 12.7% alcohol with a pH of 3.7 and an IPT of 70. Beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon notes of cassis, graphite, freshly sharpened pencil, and crushed stone all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a concentrated, layered, wonderfully textured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. 95-96/100 Jamessuckling.com James Suckling 07/05/2025 The length and linear nature of this wine make it outstanding. Medium-bodied with polished and refined tannins that caress the palate. Extremely well done. The length and finesse are impressive. 92-94/100 Vinous Neal Martin 05/05/2025 The 2024 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is clearly driven by Cabernet Sauvignon on the nose. Predominantly black fruit, freshly rolled tobacco and light cedar scents unfold in the glass, resolutely classic in style, strict yet focused and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, evidencing the much lighter extraction exacted by Nicolas Glumineau. This results in an impressively balanced Pichon-Comtesse, lightly spiced with hints of cracked black pepper towards the finish, dare I say, cut in a "Lafite" style. Though without the ambition of the '22, this keeps within the limitations set by the growing season. I can imagine this Pauillac slipping down the throat with ease in its flush of youth. 94-96/100 Vinous Antonio Galloni 30/04/2025 The 2024 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is plush, sensual and inviting. Succulent dark-toned fruit, sweet spice, new leather, mocha, chocolate and lavender build nicely. Here, too, the tannins are so polished, so refined. The 2024 is an especially elegant Pichon-Comtesse. It’s also very clearly one of the wines of the vintage. Bravo. Tasted four times. 94-96/100 The Wine Cellar Insider Jeff Leve 30/04/2025 Bouquets of flowers, Cuban cigars, blackberries, black cherries, plums, smoke, cassis, and truffle aromatics capture your attention. On the palate, the wine is elegant, silky, vibrant, and graceful. The fruits provide purity, length, and freshness. The layers of licorice-infused cherries, plums, walnuts, chocolate, and black plums on the medium-bodied palate are supple, silky, and as generous as the vintage allows, finishing with more of those sweet, juicy, vivacious plums. The wine promises sublime pleasure with just a few years of age and will evolve for 2-3 years decades. The wine blends 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. 12.7% ABV. 3.7 pH. The harvest took place September 23 - October 9. Yields were a paltry 20 hectoliters per hectare. Only 50% of the harvest went into the Grand Vin. Drink from 2028-2047. 95-96/100 Alexandre Ma Alexandre Ma 29/04/2025 This is not a “Comtesse”; this is the Queen Theresa, with the countenance of a lady and the heart of a lioness… I can hardly fathom how a gentle wine can unleash such immense energy; I almost willingly surrender to its sway… Aromas of blueberries, mulberries, and black currants adorn its velvety royal robe, while violets, iris, and roses cast a faint ethereal glow behind it. The creamy texture, upon touching the palate, instantaneously melts all resistance, only to vanish into the depths of a profound and vigorous finish. Amidst the backdrop of many Bordeaux estates turning towards “gentleness,” lots of them have lost their true spirit. Yet, the 2023 vintage of Château Pichon Comtesse sets the finest example, reminding us that even the gentlest of wines can possess the resilient soul of Pauillac. 91-93/100 Wine Advocate William Kelley 25/04/2025 The 2024 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande offers up attractive aromas of cassis, burning embers, tobacco leaf and fresh mint, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and polished palate that's seamless and suave, concluding with a moderately persistent finish. A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc that attained 12.7% alcohol, it's a charming effort that will offer a broad drinking window. 94/100 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux Jane Anson 25/04/2025 Fragrant cassis bud, rose petals, and peony. Great definition, mouthwatering on the finish, savoury blue and black fruits, less concentration than the past few vintages, but this uses slate textured tannins, cold ash smoke and well-judged salinity to compensate and build interest and engagement. Harvest September 22 through to October 9. 66% new oak. Low yields of around 30hl/h. 16% press wine, 52% of the overall production (with the rest in Pichon Comtesse Reserve, no 3rd wine). 3.7 pH. IPT 70, 94/100 Falstaff Peter Moser 25/04/2025 Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Nuances of cassis, cherry and sea buckthorn, fine wood savouriness, some vanilla and liquorice, inviting bouquet. Juicy red cherry, currants, finesse-rich acid structure, appears light-footed and lean, offers great drinking animosity, mineral-salty and well adhering, sure maturity certain ageing potential, delicate style.
