A little fuller and a little more herbal and darker berry fruited than Berliquet but cut at least from the same stylistic cloth. The fruit profile is more expansive – ranging from loganberry and raspberry, in finely pixilated detail, to bramble and a little cassis and even damson. More ample in frame and even more crystalline in the mid-palate than Berliquet. Gracious. Elegant. Hyper-stylish and charged with a lovely racy acidity and that cool cedar touch. A lovely menthol note too on the finish interweaving with the cassis. Even fuller and richer when re-tasted a week on. Quite chewy on the finish indicating the significant aging potential here. 93-95+

Beautiful fragrance on the nose, really alive and forward, roses, purple flowers and red berry fruit. Lifted and intense with a real push of cherry and strawberry fruit. So clean, pure, lively and tangy, the acidity and fruit is really at the fore here. Tannins are almost subtle, gently giving frame while the minerality adds an extra layer of complexity on the finish. I love this because it’s playful, really not serious, harmonious and full of flavour. Juicy, alive and mouthwatering. Such a great wine and one where you really can't taste the difficulties of the year in the glass. Crystalline and pure, elegant and super charming. Ageing 49% new oak barrels, 6% foudres for 16 to 18 months. 3.35pH.A yield of 45hl/ha.

78% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc. pH 3.35. Aging 16-18 months in 49% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored. Prances out to the glass with eager-to-please scents of Morello cherries, fresh raspberries, and bay leaves, leading to hints of graphite and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is subtle and lively with just enough red berry flavors and a chalkiness on the finish.

Canon initially appears discreet. It is somewhat reductive, but gradually reveals itself, revealing nuances of eucalyptus, herbs, peonies, and pepper. The wine is dense in the opening and exhibits a straightforward and fresh character. Its compact tannins are highly defined. They even have a meaty note and offer valuable support, as does the acidity, which is both structuring and refreshing. The finish is salty, juicy, and lingering. What a long finish and what harmony! 2029-2049

The Grand Vin 2024 Château Canon is 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc that will spend 16-18 months in 49% new oak, with a small amount in foudre. Black raspberries, graphite, crushed stone, and violet notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, fresh, has a vibrant, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's a classic Canon with its minerality, focused, elegant mouthfeel, and outstanding length. Tasted multiple times with consistent results.

The 2024 Canon was picked from September 19 to October 9, a harvest that I witnessed firsthand while joining the pickers on one afternoon. It aged in 49% new oak and 6% casks for between 16 and 18 months. The bouquet is well defined with pure black cherry, raspberry and a subtle marine influence that develops in the glass, though I find the Troplong Mondot tasted alongside has more amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied and pliant with fine tannins and finesse. One bottle at the château had more weight on the finish than others that feel attenuated and missing a bit of substance.

The 2024 Canon is superb. One of the standouts of the vintage, the 2024 possesses striking mid-palate depth to match its vertical personality. Chalk, white pepper, mint, lavender, rose petal, slate and blue/purplish fruit all stain the palate. There's gorgeous depth and density here, and yet the 2024 remains a super-classic wine from the property. This is a real stunner. That's all there is to it. Tasted four times.

Soft, polished, fresh, floral, and silky, the wine is sweet with a classic, elegant style. You find depth, purity, and refinement in its character, which comes from a wealth of raspberries, red plums, strawberries, and cherries. There is vibrancy and length, and as I mentioned earlier, most importantly, what makes this exceptional is the purity of the fruits in the fresh, mineral-driven finish, which is quite an accomplishment for the vintage. The wine blends 78% Merlot with 22% Cabernet Franc.13.5% ABV. Harvesting took place on September 19 and October 9. Drink from 2029- 2050. 94-96 Pts.

In the sun-starved, rainy year of 2024, Château Canon rises like a quiet stretch of pale limestone, silent yet quietly luminous. It makes no attempt to mask the vintage’s leanness and piercing acidity. Instead, it receives what nature gives with humility, letting those qualities dissolve gently into the wine. The nose is understated, yet every detail is exact. The palate moves with lightness and discipline, never losing its quiet depth. Tannins settle like refined powder, bringing a fine salinity and the graceful bone structure that only limestone heights can yield. This is how Château Canon answers the challenge of 2024 – not by striving, but by staying still. Through time and patience, it draws a portrait of Saint-Émilion at its most poetic. A wine that lets you glimpse the inner strength of Canon, and one I wholeheartedly recommend.

The 2024 Canon is shaping up brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, blackberries and raspberries mingled with notions of rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with tangy acids (the pH is a very low 3.35) and ultrarefined tannins, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. A blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, it's the estate's first year of organic certification.

This is a gorgeous Canon, with the austerity of limestone on full display, as you would expect in this vintage, but a creamy edge comes in through the mid palate. Clear precision, flesh pared from flesh, peony, peach pit, cherry stone, damson, blueberry, graphite, crayon, pumice, lemongrass, gunsmoke, this has tons of layers and waves of complexity, classical and balanced. 44hl/ha yield, organic certified. 3.35 pH. 49% new oak. Harvest 19 September to 9 October.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle edge brightening. Floral, attractive cherry fruit, a hint of wild berries, delicate hints of vanilla and clove, inviting bouquet. Medium complexity, silky, fine heart cherry, integrated acidity, elegant, mineral-salty finish, a very charming food companion.
