It’s a serious, stylish, well-structured red with fresh, leafy Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, textured tannins and understated concentration. 5/10/2017 Wein Wisser WEIN WISSER : 17,5 / 20 5/3/2017 Bettane & Desseauve BETTANE & DESSEAUVE ( BETTANE & DESSEAUVE) : 94-95 / 100 Beau vin complet, notes de cèdre proches d’un saint-julien, la forme est onctueuse. 5/2/2017 Martin WINE ADVOCATE (NEAL MARTIN) : 90-92 / 100 The 2016 Belgrave is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot and was picked from 28 September until 20 October. It has a generous bouquet with small dark cherries, blueberry and crushed violet aromas, quite Margaux-like in style. There is certainly good intensity here. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple opening: blackberry, mint and cedar. From the start there is fine tension and there is very impressive structure towards the finish, plus a long saline aftertaste. This is a very strong follow-up to the 2015 Belgrave and indeed, it may surpass it. 4/28/2017 Quarin JEAN-MARC QUARIN (JEAN-MARC QUARIN) : 16 / 20 Couleur sombre, intense et belle. Nez fruité et mûr. This is brooding and a little subdued at the moment, but is packed with Médoc signature delivered in a subtle but enjoyable manner. It has a cedar sweetness and ripe blackberry fruits with a pulse of acidity, and is well held together. 50% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Drinking Window 2024 - 2040 4/25/2017 Jukes MATTHEWJUKES.COM (MATTHEW JUKES) : 17,5 / 20 (69 Cabernet Sauvignon, 28 Merlot, 3 Petit Verdot) This is a structured wine with serious intent and it seems to have focussed its energies into the mid-palate with blackcur- rant fruit and nicely weighted oak interventions. A smooth palate gives way to a spicy finish and the whole experience is delightful. It will need five years to soften, but I think it will also roll on longer than any previous vintage in the modern era. 17.5+ 4/20/2017 Robinson JANCIS ROBINSON (JANCIS ROBINSON) : 16 / 20 Very deep crimson. Real lift and attractive (rather than underripe) leafy top note. Rather sumptuous start and then it rather falls away to something a little scrawny on the end. 4/19/2017 Wine Enthusiast WINE ENTHUSIAST (ROGER VOSS) : 93-95 / 100 Barrel Sample. This is an opulent wine, packed with ripe fruit, sweet tannins and ample acidity, all in balance. The wine is full and juicy, with great spice at the end. The finish is firm while still reveling in fruitiness. 4/10/2017 Wine Spectator WINE SPECTATOR (JAMES MOLESWORTH) : 88-91 / 100 Modest but persistent, with a focused beam of black cherry and cassis flavors, carried by a good graphite edge.—J.M. 4/5/2017 Jamessuckling.com JAMESSUCKLING.COM (JAMES SUCKLING) : 92-93 / 100 This is really constructed and powerful with lots of muscular tannins and rich fruit. Full-bodied, juicy and intense. Very serious. One of the best in years.
