The bouquet of Château Margaux 2024 is characterized by finesse and clarity. It reveals diverse nuances, all of which testify to freshness, with scents of iris, followed by notes of raspberries, blackberries, and tea leaves, and a subtle hint of fresh wood. The wine has good density and displays great grace and elegance. The balance between tannins and tension is perfect, resulting in a balanced and precise wine. The incisive character of the structure underlines the muscularity, but the tannins have enough substance to envelop them, creating a symbiosis worthy of a very great wine. A wine full of finesse, carried by its harmony, its finesse, and its power. To be honest, everything I was missing in 2022. I find the performance very commendable and applaud the exceptional level of this wine. It will last a long time... a very long time! 2029-2054

We are in the realm of Cabernet Sauvignon here and I find this gloriously expressive and expansive in its Cabernet purity. White and red currant. A little touch of mulberry. Bramble. Blackberry. A hint of black cherry skin – if perhaps more textural than aromatic. This is, for now, a little less floral than it has been en primeur in recent vintages. Graphite and a touch of scratched new leather. Walnut oil. A peppery virgin olive oil note. In the mouth, this is super-gracious on the cool, soft, almost voluptuous attack (entry is a better – a softer – word). Layered, like Pavillon rouge, with much more vertical than horizontal range. Not the pixilated purity and delineation of some recent vintages. I believe them entirely when they tell me that this is better with the press wine and that the press wine is very fine but it does not yet feel fully integrated into the core of the mid-palate. But what I love is the cool, dark sensuous quality that is both so very beguiling and so essentially ‘Margaux’. The fruit profile on the finish is a little more red in hue – loganberry replacing the black berry fruits. Very fresh and lively, cool and precise and texturally enticing.

Elégant, pur, très bien construit, avec un support tannique raffiné. Il retrouvera un esprit parfaitement margalais avec l’âge.

A tremendous effort from Margaux in 2024. Fragrant Cabernet notes on the nose, blackcurrant leaf, blackcurrants, cherries, some tobacco touches, dark fruits with aromatic nuances on the nose. Wild flower meadows with ripe cherries and blackcurrants. Glossy and so smooth, incredibly well textured, not demonstrative, this is sleek and like layers of silk on top of each other, a glossy feel and so confident. Blue cherry, cola, crushed blueberries, salty touches, liquorice and dark chocolate - everything balanced. Beautiful, this is just what you expect from Margaux, precision and perfection with a lively acidity and crushed stone chalkiness on the finish. 1% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 13% press wine. 46% grand vin production.

Deep garnet-purple colored. After a little swirling, notes of fresh blackberries, red currants, and mulberries slowly emerge from the glass, plus nuances of pencil shavings, wild thyme, and crushed rocks. The light-bodied palate is tightly wound with mineral-spiked red and black berry flavors, framed by firm, very fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and earthy. Very pretty.

Based on 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Château Margaux is similarly deep purple-hued, with a more inward, closed, yet impressive style. Crème de cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and subtle spicy nuances all define the aromatics. It's medium-bodied with a concentrated, ripe, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and nicely integrated background oak. It's going to need time, but this is unquestionably a beautiful, elegant Margaux. The 2024 is 12.8% alcohol with a pH of 3.62.

Really impressive depth, concentration and perfume this year, with fine tannins. Lots of violets, red flowers, black cherries and currants. Full-bodied and seriously structured, with impeccable freshness and a very long finish. Dense and powerful for the vintage, with tension, vibrations, good concentration and a tannin framework. 93% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 1% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot.

Representing 46% of the total crop (a little higher than recent years due to higher yields in the best Cabernet blocks), the 2024 Château Margaux contains slightly less Merlot (5%). It has a sophisticated bouquet in the context of the growing season, with black fruit, pressed violet and hints of pencil box that almost lend a Pauillac-like allure. Very fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and modest depth. This is clearly a leaner Château Margaux compared to, say, the 2020 or 2022, but it is razor-sharp with superb tension and mineralité. Unapologetically classic in style with modest length, this noble First Growth will benefit from four to five years in bottle.

The 2024 Château Margaux is quite soft and delicate. It shows fine delineation in its aromatics and on the palate, but it's distinctly on the lighter side, even for Château Margaux. The mid-palate and finish are a touch compact, while there is a bit of edginess in the tannins that needs time to resolve. Bright acids and the lack of fruit pliancy expose the tannins at this stage. Élevage will be everything. Château Margaux is a bit of a question mark.

Lilacs, roses, violets, and white flowers combine to propel the aromatics before unveiling the wealth of black cherries, blackberries, espresso, cocoa, and nutmeg. A wine of finesse and charm, the palate enjoys layers of sweet, spicy, black, and dark red fruits. There is lift and energy, coupled with a relaxed palate presence, allowing you to enjoy this in its youth as well as age it for decades. The almost zesty finish refreshes and resonates with its aromatic profile and elegance. Clearly, this is one of the stars of the vintage. The wine blends 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 12.8% ABV. 3.61 pH, 14% press wine. 46% of the crop was placed into the Grand Vin. Picking took place September 23 - October 8. The key to their success here was the ability to wait for ripeness and selection. Drink from 2030-2055.

To truly understand the 2024 vintage of Château Margaux, you must slow down, much like waiting patiently for a magnolia to slowly bloom on a spring day. It doesn’t strive for attention or rush; it’s naturally effortless, even occasionally exuding a hint of languor. It’s this calm demeanor that highlights Château Margaux’s signature graceful elegance, and serves as the key to unlocking the 2024 vintage. The aroma is neither intense nor forceful, but clearly defined. The fragrance of rosebuds and violets quietly emerges, like a half-unfurled painting stirred by the breeze, intertwining with the surrounding notes of blueberry and mulberry to create a faintly ethereal scent. The 2024 vintage is not one that stuns with immediate impact; it is more like a quiet dancer, hiding all its beauty in the turns, the subtle gestures, and the look in its eyes. Time will surely reveal the true value of Château Margaux 2024.

The 2024 Château Margaux has turned out beautifully, unfurling in the glass with notes of cassis, violets, cigar box and iris. Medium to full-bodied, deep and vibrant, with excellent density and concentration for the vintage, it's lively and layered, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. This is a serious, youthfully tightly wound blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc that attained 12.8% alcohol.

Such a floral wine, aromatics that really take hold and grip on through the palate, raspberry, black cherry, edges of rosebud, chalk, white tea, crayon, chalk, iris, has real precision, and a slow-burn unspooling of flavours, salted cracker salinity on the finish. 46% of the overall production is in Château Margaux, 30hl/ha yield after sorting through the year as needed. Harvest September 23 to October 8. Philippe Bascaules director, 3.62ph. Excellent quality, one of the wines of the vintage, with a slightly earlier starting date for drinking than usual, eight years following harvest.

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate cassis, black cherry, a hint of blackberry, pleasant wood savouriness, inviting bouquet. Juicy, fine red forest berries, a hint of currant, finesse-rich acid structure, ripe tannins, elegant and long-lasting, red berry touch, a delicate food companion.
