5/10/2017 Wein Wisser WEIN WISSER (RENÉ GABRIEL) : 19 / 20 5/3/2017 Bettane & Desseauve BETTANE & DESSEAUVE ( BETTANE & DESSEAUVE) : 96-97 / 100 Elégance onctueuse, tannin raffiné, brillant et énergique, grande intensité. 5/2/2017 Martin WINE ADVOCATE (NEAL MARTIN) : 93-95 / 100 The 2016 Beausejour (Duffau Lagarrosse) is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc picked between 18 October and 21 October, matured in 55% new oak. The alcohol is 14.4%, with a pH of 3.38. It has a very perfumed bouquet with luscious red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, fine delineation, touches of truffle and smoke in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin that belie the structure of this Saint Emilion. This has a gorgeous salinity and spiciness that lend it character, very long and persistent with a tang of black pepper on the aftertaste. This is a step up from the 2015 last year and should rest at the top of my banded score once in bottle. 4/26/2017 Vinous VINOUS (ANTONIO GALLONI) : 95-98 / 100 The 2016 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is outrageously beautiful. A striking bouquet of crushed rocks, graphite, smoke, scorched earth and lavender opens into a core of plush, sumptuous fruit. Deep, dark and inviting, the 2016 is endowed with tremendous intensity in all of its dimensions. Beams of tannin give the wine its explosive, exuberant personality. This is another exceptional showing from Nicolas Thienpont and his team. Readers should be prepared to be patient, as the 2016 is going to need time in bottle to be at its best. Even so, it is deeply impressive today. Tasted three times. 4/25/2017 Jukes MATTHEWJUKES.COM (MATTHEW JUKES) : 15 / 20 Very sour and dry and the fruit is very over-macerated and hard. No flesh is left - just skin. This is a very difficult wine to taste. 15++? 4/24/2017 Decanter.com DECANTER.COM (JANE ANSON) : 96 / 100 Wow, that is rich, tight and closed in. It is absolutely dancing with minerality, and just gets better and better on the palate. It doesn't try to force itself on you, but it certainly walks in the room five paces ahead. This is what St-Émilion can do, and could always have done if it didn't try so hard. A beautiful deep colour and pure fruit, what a lovely fresh, lifted but concentrated wine. Very rich and edgy. Vegy edge. Massively ripe in the middle but not too ripe or sweet. Pretty dramatic. Dry end. Obviously classy stuff from a great terroir. 17+ 4/19/2017 Wine Enthusiast WINE ENTHUSIAST (ROGER VOSS) : 95-97 / 100 Barrel Sample. This small estate, a Premier Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion, is now showing its pedigree. This vintage wine is impressively ripe as well as structured. It has serious tannins that are inextricably wedded to the powerful black fruits. It will last for many years, so hold it until 2029, at least. 4/10/2017 Wine Spectator WINE SPECTATOR (JAMES MOLESWORTH) : 94-97 / 100 On the exotic side, with loganberry, acai and crushed plum notes forming the core, laced with singed mesquite and alder flavors and backed by a long, juicy, dark-profiled finish.—J.M. 4/10/2017 Quarin JEAN-MARC QUARIN (JEAN-MARC QUARIN) : 19 / 20 Le meilleur jamais fait avec le 1990 ! Couleur sombre, intense et noire. Nez très aromatique, fin, complexe, fruité, avec une note de prune et de pain d'épice. Très belle entrée en bouche moelleuse. Le vin s'offre d'entrée de jeu, avec un grand goût de cerise, un corps charnu et beaucoup d'éclat aromatique. Il fond au milieu, juteux et noble dans sa texture avant de se tramer en finale pour s'achever dans une grande longueur sèveuse, parfumée, au grain de tannin génial.
