Gooseberry, green apple, lemongrass, a hint of vanilla and verbena - lovely fragrance and aromatic on the nose. Clean and crisp. Juicy and alive, really focussed but this has such a vibrancy to it and perfect weight in the mouth. Gorgeous and because of the almost fleshy aspect you don’t get any harsh acidity. No aggressivity. A stunning white wine, gorgeous density, layered but precise too, it is crisp no doubt, there’s a firm line driving from start to finish with movement all the way through but then you get the expansive fruit, juiciness, soft chew and weight as well as a hint of sweetness. Fleshy peach, orange, grapefruit, lemon, apple, - so much going on here. A wonderful white from 2023. 3.09pH. 4% new oak for ageing, used to be 15%. - Georgina Hindle
93-94/100 Jamessuckling.com
I like the layered texture to this, with fruit and light phenolics, as well as bright acidity. Medium body. Lemon-rind and fresh-apple character at the end. Excellent finish. - James Suckling
92/100 Tastingbook.com
Bright yellow colour with green hue. Elegant nose with fine fruit, tangerine and grapefruit, starfruit and hints of peaches, basil and mint in the background as well as fine white blossoms. On the palate well balanced with juicy finish and very good length. 92+ - Markus Del Monego
92-94/100 The Drink Business
Pretty, tense, intense and charged with fresh citrus notes and linden, grapefruit, elderflower, elderberry, a little apple blossom. Very lovely. Pure, precise, crystalline. Lithe and so incredibly tense, very pure fruited and yet with good density. Very expressive of the vintage. Brilliantly crystalline. The best yet from here. - Colin Hay
92/100 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
Reflective green gold, fragrant white flower aromatics, this has lime zest and lift, widening to preserved citrus through the mid palate, fresh acidities and salinity on the finish, good stuff. - Jane Anson
91/100 Falstaff
Pale yellow green, silver reflections. Delicate lime and grapefruit zest, white tropical fruit, in the background some fresh meadow herbs. Slender, green apple, racy and fresh structure, fine fruit in the finish, lemony aftertaste, a fine aperitif wine.
91-93/100 Vinous
The 2023 La Garde Blanc is gorgeous. Sauvignon Blanc on limestone drives this sculpted dry white. Lemon confit, white pepper, apricot and tangerine peel build in the glass. Lees-stirring helps build texture to play off the wine's salivating acid profile. - Antonio Galloni
90-92/100 Vinous
The 2023 La Garde Blanc has a very pretty and generous bouquet with apple blossom, freshly sliced pear and subtle tropical notes that remain in the background, all nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine concentration, well-integrated oak and hints of white peach and kaki fruit on the finish. Delicious! - Neal Martin
90-92/100 Wine Advocate
A blend of 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Sémillon, the 2023 La Garde Blanc offers up a lively, fresh bouquet of pear, white peach, spring flowers and lemongrass. Medium-bodied, round and incisive with an enveloping core of fruit, it's fresh and balanced, concluding with a mouthwatering, long finish. - Yohan Castaing
89-91/100 The Wine Independent
The 2023 La Garde Blanc features bright, shiny scents of lemon drops, fresh pineapple, and green mango followed by hints of cedar and coriander seed. The light to medium-bodied palate has a crisp backbone and plenty of citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing on a steely note. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
